Focus on implementation in Life Cycle Thinking course
The recent two-day course in Applied life cycle thinking, hosted by Swedish Life Cycle Center, gathered participants from diverse sectors and organisations. Guided by experts in the field, the course provides a platform to gain a better understanding of the life cycle perspective.
The course, held on 10–11 April 2024, delved into both the fundamentals of life cycle assessment (LCA), and how to implement life cycle thinking in different organizations. It was led by course leaders Karin Sanne, head of Life Cycle Management Group at IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and Kristian Jelse, sustainability consultant and the owner of Greendesk.
“It’s a fundamental course, and that’s also what many people need. Fewer need to delve into a more detailed level, while many require the fundamental knowledge to grasp these current questions and incorporate them into their work,” says Karin Sanne.
Over the two course days, the 20 participants were guided through real-life case studies and proven methodologies, allowing them to gain practical skills applicable to their respective organizations.
Understanding the life cycle perspective, which examines the environmental impacts of a product or service throughout the value chain, is progressively gaining significance not only in business but also within the public sector and among authorities.
“What I hope people take away from the course is that they feel better equipped to ask questions about these topics, to specialists, customers, or suppliers, and perhaps even answer some questions themselves,” says Kristian Jelse.
Do you want to expand your knowledge in life cycle thinking?
The course is aimed for you who need a better understanding of the life cycle perspective, life cycle assessment (LCA) and its role for sustainable development in your organization.
The next instalment of the course in Applied life cycle thinking will be held 12–13 November 2024. No previous knowledge of LCA is required to attend the course.
