Asker Healthcare Group – new partner in Swedish Life Cycle Center
Swedish Life Cycle Center welcome its newest partnership with Asker Healthcare Group, a company working to support healthcare providers and patients to improve patient outcomes, reduce total cost of care and ensure a fair and sustainable value chain.
Asker Healthcare Group builds and acquires leading companies that make a positive difference in the European healthcare ecosystem by providing safe and high-quality medical supplies, devices, and equipment. The group consists of more than 40 companies in 14 countries and 2,600 employees.
To gain insights into their perspective on life cycle assessment and the partnership, we asked a few questions to Julien Rolland, Group Sustainability Director at Asker Healthcare Group.
What role does the life cycle perspective have in your organization?
“Asker is publicly reporting annually its emissions as per the GHG Protocol standards and has set Science Based Targets. Life cycle principles were applied for the accounting of Scope 3 emissions (Category 1, 11 & 12) with a hybrid approach, including realization of cradle-to-grave LCA’s for major products sold under our own trademarks, collection of EPDs from brand suppliers when available and screening LCA based on basic product information such as weight, main raw materials, country of origin, etc. Some companies within the Asker Healthcare Group also use LCA’s to support their green claims.”
What makes Swedish Life Cycle Center an interesting organization for Asker?
“We want to increase life cycle thinking and knowledge across the Asker Healthcare Group as we see LCA’s as a strategic pillar of our environmental strategy. Sustainability is core to Asker’s strategy and we want to get better at measuring the footprint of the products we sell, identify areas for improvement and measure the impact. We hope that the access to a network of the Swedish Life Cycle Center, combining of multiple sectorial and academic expertise, will help us achieve that.”
What are you looking forward to as partner to the Center?
“We wish to contribute to the development of realistic and effective environmental practices in our sector, and we expect that our membership in the Swedish Life Cycle Center can help us develop the required knowledge and expertise to become a valuable contributor to our industry’s transformation.”
Sanna Norman, Head of ESG (ordinary) and Julien Rolland, Group Sustainability Director (deputy) will be the representatives from Asker in the Swedish Life Cycle Center’s Board.
We are very proud to welcome Asker Healthcare Group as partner in Swedish Life Cycle Center!
