Welcome to Life Cycle Talks! A series of talks presenting the research front to keep you up to date with the science and application of the life cycle perspective. Our next guest is Göran Finnveden, Professor in Environmental Strategic Analysis at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. He will talk about how to measure and move towards sustainable consumption and the importance of the life cycle approach for the role of reaching a sustainable consumption. He will also give us an overview of how to assess environmental impacts of consumption.

His entire presentation in this talk is based on the recently finalized research project Policy Relevant Indicators for National Consumption and Environment, findings from the ongoing research programme Mistra Sustainable Consumption – From Niche to Mainstream and the strong research environment Beyond GDP growth – Scenarios for a sustainable built environment.

“Consumption-based targets for greenhouse gases is now suggested for Sweden. This is an important step since consumption-based emissions also needs to become zero.” says Göran Finnveden

Speaker

Göran Finnveden is a Professor in Environmental Strategic Analysis at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, he is also the Programme Director for Mistra Sustainable Consumption. His research interest are: circular economy, life cycle assessment methodology, integration of sustainable development in higher education institutions, sustainable consumption and sustainable economic development.
