Swedish Life Cycle Center announces its new partnership with Tetra Pak, a global leader in food processing and packaging solutions. With over 23,000 employees, Tetra Pak helps provide safe and nutritious food to hundreds of millions of people across more than 160 countries every day.

To discuss their perspective on life cycle assessment and our new partnership, we spoke with Layla Hariri, Climate & LCA Specialist, and David Cockburn, Director Environmental Technologies, at Tetra Pak, and asked a few questions.

What role does the life cycle perspective have in your organization?

“At Tetra Pak, we use life cycle assessment to understand, improve and communicate the environmental performance of our packages, as well as to facilitate comparisons within our product portfolio and beyond. This interconnected approach empowers us to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvements in the environmental performance of our packaging systems.”

“Tetra Pak has commissioned and published LCA studies since the 1980s. All publicly available studies are carried out by independent scientific institutes and are critically reviewed, in line with ISO 14040 and 14044.”

What makes Swedish Life Cycle Center an interesting organization for Tetra Pak?

“Swedish Life Cycle Center is a collaborative platform that advances sustainability through applied life cycle thinking, making it highly relevant for Tetra Pak. By engaging with Swedish Life Cycle Center, Tetra Pak can collaborate with leading organizations, access valuable research insights, and stay informed of the latest advancements in the life cycle field.”

What are you looking forward to as partner to the center?

“As partner in Swedish Life Cycle Center, Tetra Pak will have the opportunity to collaborate and network with experts in life cycle assessment and applied life cycle thinking, stay up to date on sustainable practices, and support innovations in life cycle management.”

Layla Hariri and David Cockburn will be the representatives from Tetra Pak in the Swedish Life Cycle Center’s Board.
