Environmental footprint Expert group meeting – Carbon Footprint of Electric Vehicle Batteries
The European Commission has published a draft delegated act on mandatory calculation and verification of carbon footprint of electric vehicle batteries (Batteries for electric vehicles – carbon footprint methodology) is running a consultation, deadline May 28th. The rules for calculation and verification are derived from the EF recommendation but includes some changes. The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the proposed rules ahead of the consultation deadline – relating them to the EF recommendation, the pilot phase PEFCR for batteries, scientific progress in LCA modelling and other relevant references. Discussions will cover topics of general interest in LCA/EF-modelling, such as electricity and EoL modelling, and if possible specific battery value chain topics.
- Proposed agenda:
- Choice of functional unit
- Electricity modelling
- CFF
- Allocations
- Verification
- Battery value chain specific topics
This meeting is arranged in collaboration with the project Innovation cluster for the life cycle perspective and will be chaired by Björn Spak, Swedish EPA.
