Swedish Life Cycle Center has, through the development of the EPS-method and a number of projects, been discussing monetarization for several years. With this group and related activities we hope to contribute to the discussion and implentation of “right prices”.

Background

The European Union has in its IPP (Integrated Product Policy) a goal to include the external damage costs in the prize of products. But what are the right prices? Swedish Life Cycle Center has, through the development of the EPS-method and a number of projects, been discussing this for several years. With this group and related activities we hope to contribute to the discussion and implementation of “right prices”.

Aim & objectives

The aim of the working group is to follow and contribute to the international development of monetary valuation of environmental impacts, to share experiences, build knowledge, common business intelligence for development of methods and increased implementation. The working groups is also working with developing research proposals, analyzing interesting reports and papers.

Outcomes

The group has initiated several research projets within monetary valuation of environmental impacts. The group has also,through SIS, the Swedish standard Institute, proposed the establishment of an international working group within ISO to develop an international standard on monetary valuation of environmental impacts.

• Support for innovative and sustainable business decisions (Vinnova)
• Development of methodology to communicate environmental damage cost data (Swedish Energy Agency)
